From the Beginning: First Responders and Digital Evidence May 26, 2011 THE EVENT The Ottawa Chapter of the High Tech Crime investigation Association (HTCIA) is organizing a one day training session centered on first responders. This session will bring together subject matter experts in various fields to give you an updated view of the challenges faced by today’s first responders under different conditions. We expect to be starting the formal program at 8:30am, so that you can get a full day packed with valuable information that will be useful to you when responding to an incident, or faced with an investigator looking for information or evidence of a corporate or criminal incident. Here are just a few of the tremendously talented specialists who have agreed to come and share their knowledge and experience with you. *Dave McMahon * David McMahon has an honours degree in computer engineering from the Royal Military College of Canada and has spent the last 25 years with the military, intelligence and security community both in the public and private sectors. Dave is a widely published author on the subject of the Cyberthreat, 5th dimension Warfare, e-spionage and proactive cyber defence. Dave McMahon manages complex security programs for Bell Canada. *Greg Bembridge* Greg Bembridge is a Senior Computer Forensic Instructor with the Technological Crime Learning Institute, at the Canadian Police College in Ottawa. Before joining the Canadian Police College, Greg was a Forensic Analyst with the RCMP’s Technological Crime Unit in Halifax, where he conducted forensic analysis on seized devices from a multitude of criminal offence investigations. The last 1.5 years in Halifax were spent with the provincial Child Exploitation unit, as their dedicated Forensic Analyst. He has also conducted analysis in the corporate sector and has a total of 31 years experience in the technical field. *Carol Miller* Carol’s skill set includes a broad array of knowledge and experience from dozens of applications ranging from Windows 95 to Windows Azure and beyond. She enjoys a computing challenge and the pursuit of technology knowledge. Carol is a Microsoft Certified Trainer, Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer – Security.
