Manager, Architecture and Infrastructure Solutions (Discovery and R&D), is
responsible for: leading and managing the research and development of
infrastructure architectures as part of enterprise architecture governance;
the planning and development of infrastructure solutions as part of the
overall HoC IT Strategy in support of business requirements; leading and
managing needs assessments for technology projects involving hardware,
infrastructure services and networking technologies; providing technical
expertise in the development of the IT security framework and architecture
for the House; leading the development of standards, practices and processes
for HoC related to infrastructure; leading the configuration management for
implementation of all infrastructure technologies; managing the development
and maintenance of quality assurance/testing standards and processes and
overseeing the testing and development for infrastructure solutions,

*EDUCATION:*

   - successfully completed a university degree in Computer Engineering,
   Electrical Engineering, Computer Science or Business OR an acceptable
   combination of education, training and relevant experience;

*EXPERIENCE:*

   - extensive experience managing IT Infrastructure and related services;
   - a minimum of 5 years managerial experience in an IT environment;
   - experience in executing change management initiatives;
   - experience in leading, participating in and supporting
   multidisciplinary teams;
   - experience in managing projects;

*For the following competencies, candidates will be evaluated against the
Information Services Manager's Leadership Competency Profile (see Profile
attached below). *

*COMPETENCIES:*

   - specialized knowledge: *knowledge of IT infrastructure and related
   services; knowledge in networking, servers and storage, infrastructure
   services (Mail Systems, SQL, Web, etc.) and enterprise architecture*;

   - The purpose of this selection process is to staff the position of
   Manager, Architecture and Infrastructure Solutions on an indeterminate basis
   and to establish a list of pre-qualified candidates.
   - Preference may be given to candidates with a university degree in an
   IT-related field.
   - Knowledge of infrastructure architectures may be considered an asset.
   - Selected candidates who do not have valid language results will be
   assessed before being invited for an interview.
   - Qualified candidates from this selection process may be considered for
   temporary or indeterminate positions requiring similar competencies at the
   House of Commons.
   - Candidates may be required to successfully pass a written exam before
   being invited for an interview.
