 WHAT IS IT?
 ~~~~~~~~~~~
 This is one of a series of Linux/Open-Source Technology Seminars to be
 presented by the Ottawa Canada Linux Users Group (OCLUG) and
 ExitCertified.  ExitCertified has generously made their classroom
 space available to OCLUG for these training sessions and other events.
 WHAT IS THIS MONTH'S TOPIC?
 ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
 Find out how you can get started playing with ridiculously inexpensive,
 embedded Linux computers for fun and profit, save the world and leap
 over small buildings in a few (or more) bounds.

 The Linksys/Cisco WRT54GL is a tiny, cheap, all-in-one home DSL/cable
 router/firewall/switch/wireless AP that can be purchased new for around
 CDN$80. What "they" don't advertise is the fact that you can do things
 with this device that previously were only possible with closed systems
 and by spending many hundreds or thousands of dollars--a pricetag that
 is often hard for a hobbyist or amateur to justify on their family
 expense report.

 We will cover some standard scenarios for setting up your unit for the
 first time, recovering from forgotten passwords, how to upgrade the
 firmware, how to install new packages, how to try out OpenWRT on your
 laptop, etc. While it is not required, please feel free to bring your
 laptop and/or WRT54GL (and a network cable) with you.

 ABOUT THE INSTRUCTOR
 ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
 Tyler Tidman has been wireless since shortly after his birth and has
 been hacking his own internal firmware for over 30 years. In his spare
 time, he tries to install Linux on his wife and two cats.
 REGISTRATION
 ~~~~~~~~~~~~
 Registration for this class is on a first-come, first-served basis. If
 you are interested in attending, please email: tutorials [ at ] oclug [ dot ] on [ dot ] ca
 with the subject line: September Tutorial -- simply replying to this
 email should work with most email software. Please include your name
 and email address in the email -- the From: line is fine. Your
 reservation will be confirmed via email a few days before the event.

 Please sign up ASAP, as there are only 20 seats available. These
 classes usually fill up very quickly!

 As seating is limited, please make every effort to attend if you sign
 up. If you must cancel, email tutorials [ at ] oclug [ dot ] on [ dot ] ca so we can make
 the spot available to someone on the waiting list.

 FUTURE TECHNOLOGY COURSES
 ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
 OCLUG and ExitCertified plan to continue this series of technology
 courses.  We plan on holding one session per month, with various
 topics and skill levels covered.  If you are interested in leading a
 training session, or have a good idea for one, please contact
 tutorials [ at ] oclug [ dot ] on [ dot ] ca to arrange something.
 Volunteers are needed to teach these classes and ensure the sessions
 continue to be a part of OCLUG's regular schedule of events!
