Profile

open source software products, and to
providing tools and support to the open source community.
• Our Client is a global organisation headquartered in Europe, with
employees throughout Europe, North America,
South America and Australia.
• Our Client is currently sponsoring the development of a number of
important technology products.
• Provide the graphics infrastructure to enable the first-class desktop
user experience in Ubuntu

Responsibilities

• Package new releases of the X window system as they become available, in
accord with Ubuntu release schedules
• Build a strong working relationship with the upstream X development
community, increasing awareness of our
needs and processes
• Work with graphics hardware vendors to ensure that Ubuntu takes full
advantage of the capabilities of their
products
• Analyze, triage and respond to bug reports regarding the X subsystem in
Ubuntu, forwarding to upstream
developers as appropriate
Requirements
• Broad knowledge of graphics hardware and related software, including
drivers for our X server
• Ability to diagnose and fix bugs in a variety of components of the Ubuntu
graphics subsystem, including the X
server and its drivers
• Ability to be productive in a globally distributed team through
self-discipline and self-motivation, delivering
according to a schedule
• Familiarity with open source development tools and methodology,
especially those in common use for Ubuntu and
Debian package maintenance
• Some international travel will be required.
